Full & Partial Dentures

Having several missing teeth can be a major setback. At Philadelphia Dental Smiles, we offer both full and partial dentures to help get your smile looking great again!

What Are Dentures And Who Needs Them?

Dentures are prosthetic teeth that are secured to a tray that covers a patient’s gums, attached by suction. Many people may need dentures. Qualifying conditions for dentures can include:

  • Missing the majority to all of your natural teeth
  • Having severely decayed teeth due to infection or disease
  • Suffering a major injury that severely damages many teeth.

Full vs. Partial Dentures

There are two main options when it comes to dentures – full and partial.

Full dentures will cover the entire upper or lower gums. This requires an entire row of teeth to be removed if they are not already missing. In this scenario, the gums must be given time to heal before the dentures can be worn.

Partial dentures cover only a portion of the gums, using healthy surrounding teeth to help support the prosthetic. This is a good option for patients who are only missing some teeth and still have many healthy teeth remaining.
